Agostino 1924 - 1963 Angela (born La Bianca)

NOTE:  This information has been collated with best intentions but we have been unable to verify it by any member of Agostino’s family.

Agostino, aka Aldo was born in northern Italy on 6 June 1924 to parents Giovanni and Maria (born Rossittini). Agostino was one of nine children all born in Italy.  (Refer to the Tuia Family Tree)

In 1938, Aldo’s brothers Luigi and Enrico applied to the Australian Government to allow Aldo, his siblings Emma and Piera along with his parents to settle on the farm in Balingup.

In 1939 at the age of 15, Aldo  travelled with his family on the SS REMO into the port of Fremantle, Western Australia and settled in Balingup working on the family farm for a small wage and their keep.   Aldo them moved to Witchcliffe working at the timber bill where he worked for many years.

In 1955 Agostino married Angela LaBianca and started their life together in Balingup.  Angela was from Sicily in southern Italy and travelled to Australia a in 1937 on SS ROMOLO.   Two years after they were married, their treasured son Dino arrived.

Their son Dino, recalls his parents didn’t stay long in Balingup and soon moved to Witchcliffe WA with dairy being their made source of income. It was virgin country and they worked hard to make a living off the land

Agostino passed away on 2 April 1963 and is buried at the Margaret River cemetery in Western Australia.
