Luigi Angelo Jnr 1939 - Helen 1938 - (born Graham)

  • Lui was born in Greenbushes in 1939 to parents Luigi and Aurelia Tuia.  (Refer to the Tuia Family Tree)  The family moved to the farm in Thomson’s Brook when he was six weeks old so he grew up in this area with his older sisters Ida and Elsie and his brother Nino. He went to school at St Mary’s Donnybrook with a final year in New Norcia.

When Lui finished his schooling, he joined his father and brother in running the family farm. Lui played tennis, cricket and badminton in Brookhampton and the hall there hosted many of the social events he loved including his 21 st birthday party. The Brookhampton Hall was also the venue for his wedding reception when he married Helen Graham in 1961.

Lui purchased the farm in 1962 and his parents retired to Donnybrook. Daughters Margo and Joanne were born in 63 and 64 and in 67 Nigel was the first baby to be born to a sitting Council member of the Donnybrook Shire. Lyndal completed the family in 1970.

Life was quite hectic with Lui’s involvement in so many things both on the farm and within the community but there was still time for some fun with his race horses. He and Helen also enjoyed overseas and Australian trips.

In 2009 Lui and Helen moved into a new home in Donnybrook but his working days are not over. Most days he can be found out at the farm doing what ever needs doing to keep it in good shape. Regular cycling with a friend also keeps him in good shape!
